TKO Bloody Mary Cocktail Recipe

The idea for this TKO Bloody Mary cocktail recipe started with our kale plants, that survived the winter, and began to form beautiful flower heads.  I wanted to use them as a garnish in an herbal cocktail.  The TKO – Tomato Kale Oregano Bloody Mary was born.  Who needs boring celery when you can use the flower buds from your organic kale plants?  And this cocktail recipe is truly a Total Knock Out.  Now kale doesn’t flower and offer these herbal garnishes all the time, so feel free to use other interesting greens instead.  Our golden oregano is looking good already, so I added that to the small salad floating on top of this cocktail.  Think about what flavors you enjoy with your tomatoes, and give them a try.

Here’s the Mama Beth original cocktail recipe for the:

TKO Bloody Mary

  • 1 1/2 ounces gin
  • 6 ounces tomato-vegetable juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • generous splash of hot sauce

juice from 1/2 lime

salt to taste

Mix and serve over ice.  Garnish with kale buds and fresh oregano.
