Sangria with the Neighbors

Strawberry Spritz Sangria –
I made a big pitcher of this easy sangria for our recent monthly potluck with the neighbors. During the spring and summer months, we get together for monthly Sunday dinners around our community firepit. It’s informal and relaxed and loads of fun.
Since we got our Sodastream, I’ve been doing lots more bubbly drinks. Come to find out, wine spritzers are back, according to this article. The general rule of thumb is two parts wine to one part something bubbly. My rule of thumb is to use what’s on hand, and zing it up with what’s fresh in your garden or fridge. Here’s my recent, tasty sangria combo.
Strawberry Spritz Sangria
- 2 bottles white wine
- 1 large bottle blood orange sparkling soda
- lots of hulled strawberries
- slice of peeled ginger root
- big sprig of lemon verbena
Combine everything but the blood orange soda a few hours before serving, and let the flavors marry in your fridge. When it is time to serve, add the blood orange soda to the sangria. I like to serve ice cubes separately.
