Blackberry Sage Margarita -

The secret ingredient in this tasty margarita is blackberry sage jam. It could be about any favorite jam. I made the blackberry sage jam from the recipe in Food in Jars – my favorite canning book this summer. With my current canning obsession, I have a bounty of delicious homemade jams piling up around here. I’ve been using them on the usual suspects like toast, and also on my yogurt, and in vinaigrettes. I was inspired to use some jam in a margarita after reading this post from Northwest Edible Life. (I still need to try her mason jar for a blender mixing container one day soon.) For the margarita ingredient proportions, I started off by following the magic margarita formula here. With a little adjusting, here is the delectable margarita recipe I created.
Blackberry Sage Margarita
- 2 ounces tequila (I like a nice reposado)
- 1 ounce blackberry sage jam
- 1/2 ounce Triple Sec
- 1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
Mix, and serve over ice cubes. Garnish with some fresh sage leaves.

GORGEOUS PHOTO! LOVE!
Thanks for your encouraging comment on the photo. I shot the margarita outside to have better light, and the darn wind kept blowing my sage leaves around! The jam gives this drink such good color and taste.
