Boozy Bourbon Ice Cream Float –

I had my first boozy milkshake not long ago at Hot Cakes, here in Seattle. I haven’t stopped dreaming about it since. That boozy milkshake had rye whiskey, extra dark caramel and espresso. Really delectable combo. I decided to create my own spirited version for my husband’s birthday dinner dessert. A special bottle of bourbon from Woodinville Whiskey Company was the star. Plus some salted caramel sauce, semi-sweet chocolate Ephemere Sauce from Dilletante and nice vanilla ice cream. Into the blender it all went. We slurped those boozy milkshakes right down.

Then I had the idea to put these heavenly ingredients together as an ice cream float. I like this version even more for its’ eye appeal. Here’s my recipe for a:

Boozy Bourbon Ice Cream Float

  • 1 1/2 ounces good quality bourbon
  • 1/2 ounce or 1 tablespoon salted caramel sauce (Trader Joe’s is tiptop)
  • 1/2 ounce or 1 tablespoon semi-sweet chocolate sauce, such as Dilletante’s Ephemere
  • 8 ounces high quality vanilla bean ice cream

Mix the bourbon, caramel sauce and chocolate sauce together. Some streaks and lumps are just fine. Pour over your scoops of ice cream. Dig in.
