Holiday Cocktails That Don’t Suck

Posted on Monday, December 10th, 2012

Over the weekend, I enjoyed a festive “Holiday Cocktails That Don’t Suck” class led by Paul Clarke, author of the Cocktail Chronicles. It was held at the wonderful Rob Roy here in Seattle. Owner, Anu Apte, mixed up some delicious cocktails for us, as Paul shared his wit and wisdom about the good and bad cocktails served during the holidays.

Our menu included a sensational eggnog using Jeffrey Morgenthaler’s recipe. You can find it here. Anejo tequila and sherry really zipped up this eggnog. Second up was a nice St. Nick Sour – bourbon, fresh orange juice, lemon juice and orgeat.

The grand finale was an impressive flaming punch, pictured at the top. Rum, cognac, apple cider, orange and lemon juices, and spices made a memorable holiday cocktail. Which definitely did not suck.
