The Drunken Botanist

Get this book. If you are interested in cocktails at all, you will enjoy The Drunken Botanist by Amy Stewart. If you are also a gardener, you will be over the moon with The Drunken Botanist. I just finished reading it cover to cover, and learned all sorts of new things about “the plants that create the world’s great drinks” – the very true tag line from the front cover.
I was so happy to meet Amy Stewart at the recent Northwest Flower & Garden show, and enjoy her Backyard Bartender seminar. We had a short moment to chat before her seminar, which is always sort of a crazy time for a speaker. Amy is gracious, friendly, smart and witty. Hilarious really.
The Drunken Botanist was a fun read, even though it contained lots of botanical information. There are over 50 cocktail recipes and loads of practical gardening advice. I am sure The Drunken Botanist is headed to the New York Times bestseller list. Amy Stewart has been there before with her Wicked Bugs and Wicked Plants. You will also want to check out The Drunken Botanist Plant Collection at Territorial Seed Company. I’m looking forward to adding some gems like Redventure Celery and Mexican Sour Gherkin Cucumbers to our cocktail garden this spring.
