Tomato Crush Cocktail

I go through creative spurts. With the arrival of the spring season, combined with the incredible energy I’m fortunate to receive from my public speaking audiences, I am spurting and creating like crazy here at Mama Knows Her Cocktails.

Bevivo Drinking Balsamic

This Tomato Crush Cocktail started with a wonderful bottle of Bevivo Drinking Balsamic I received from the nicest couple at my recent Garden to Glass – Cocktails! event at Molbak’s Garden + Home. They thought I would enjoy creating a cocktail with this tasty drinking vinegar. And I did! I decided to mix the lemon balsamic drinking vinegar with fresh tomato and oregano. Next was enlivening this garden cocktail with some nice gin, and giving it some zip with a couple dashes of hot pepper sauce, salt and pepper. The final touch was adding some bubbles with sparkling mineral water. The Tomato Crush Cocktail is light on alcohol, and big on refreshing flavor. Here’s the easy recipe.

Tomato Crush Cocktail

  • 1 ounce gin
  • 1 ounce lemon balsamic drinking vinegar
  • 1 fresh, ripe tomato diced fine
  • 1 sprig of fresh oregano
  • couple dashes of hot pepper sauce
  • sprinkles of salt and pepper
  • 2 ounces sparkling mineral water

Muddle the tomato and oregano with the gin and drinking vinegar. Add the hot pepper sauce, salt, pepper and sparkling water. Mix and serve over ice cubes.
