Raspberry Vodka & Tonic

My friends know me so well. I hosted a fun group this last weekend. Among my hostess gifts were:

  • 4 pack of Q Tonic water
  • pint of homemade Raspberry Vodka
  • slew of vintage swizzle sticks
  • mason jar cocktail shaker

Lucky, lucky me! Right away I knew I had to invent a quick and easy cocktail using my new loot to serve to my generous guests. A quick visit to the cocktail garden to snip some lemon balm and borage flowers, and I was ready to gartend. I made a jazzed up vodka and tonic. The lemon balm got muddled into the Raspberry Vodka. I added the Q Tonic water, and a small amount of simple syrup. Some ice, some stirs, and I was ready to serve. Each glass was garnished with a borage flower. Here’s the easy recipe.

Raspberry Vodka & Tonic

  • 2 ounces Raspberry Vodka
  • 4 or 5 lemon balm leaves
  • 2 – 4 ounces Q Tonic water
  • scant teaspoon of simple syrup
  • borage flower and lemon balm leaf for garnish

In a mixing glass, muddle the lemon balm with the Raspberry Vodka. Add the tonic and simple syrup. Stir with ice until cold. Strain into a serving glass, and garnish with a borage flower and a fresh lemon balm leaf.

Raspberry Vodka

To make the raspberry vodka, place equal parts vodka and fresh ripe raspberries into a glass jar with a tight fitting lid. Smoosh/muddle the mixture, and place in your fridge. Continue to smoosh/muddle/shake the raspberry mixture daily for the next week. Strain, and put the raspberry vodka into a clean glass jar.
