Apple Brandy Hot Toddy

No ice cubes for me these days. All I’ve been hankering for lately are hot drinks. And specifically, a hot toddy in the evening. My latest triumph is the Apple Brandy Hot Toddy. I infused brandy with apples, cardamom and cinnamon for the last month. It’s so simple, and so good! Add equal parts apple brandy and hot water to a mug. If you want it sweeter, add a little honey, or for more tart, a squeeze of lemon. I garnished the toddy with some of the brandy-infused apple pieces that were strained from the infusion.

Apple Brandy with Cardamom and Cinnamon

Apple Brandy Hot Toddy

  • 2 cups good quality brandy
  • 1 apple, cored and diced into small pieces
  • 1 cardamom pod, slightly crushed
  • 1 inch of cinnamon stick

Place everything in a glass jar with a tight fitting lid. Store away from heat and strong light, and give the jar a gentle shake daily. The Apple Brandy will be tasty after two weeks, and even smoother after four weeks. Strain into a clean bottle. Rescue the brandy-infused apple pieces for garnishes (and nibbling).
